Piping Plover arrives; Little Gull at Norbury's

I received a report that the first returning Piping Plover of the year was seen at the Two Mile Beach Unit of Cape May NWR today, as well as a Little Gull at Norbury's Landing- located along the Delaware Bay north of the Villas.

My birding has been limited during the past two days, but there were 2 Great Egrets (presumably the same wintering birds) and a handful of Northern Shovelers in the ibis pond along Reed's Beach Road this afternoon. Snow Geese numbers along the lower bayshore appear much reduced, as do numbers of Ring-billed Gulls. I wouldn't be surprised if both species moved out in considerable numbers during the southerly winds earlier this week.
